Vieuli

Guide

How to make a trip book, share it with loved ones, and work together.

Vieuli turns your trip photos into a simple, beautiful book to share with the people back home. You add your days and photos, pick a theme, and send a private link.

Everything you share is view-only (a link + a 4-digit PIN). The people you send it to can browse the book, but they can't change anything.

Always start from dos.onefour5.com/ — note the dos. at the front and the trailing slash. Plain onefour5.com is a different site. Bookmark it (or add it to your Home Screen) so it's easy to get back to.

1 Signing in

There are two ways in. The email sign-in link works on every device, and once you're in you can turn on a faster Face ID / fingerprint sign-in that skips email next time.

Email sign-in link — works everywhere:

  1. Go to the Vieuli sign-in page and type your email.
  2. Tap Send sign-in link.
  3. Open the newest email and tap its link — it brings you right back, signed in. No password to remember. (If a link expires, just request a new one.)

Faster sign-in with Face ID / fingerprint — recommended: once you're signed in, look for "Set up Face ID" in the ☰ menu (top corner) or the banner, and follow the prompt. After that, tap "Sign in with Face ID" and unlock with your face, fingerprint, or computer login — no email needed. The email link always stays available as a backup.

iPhone If you added Vieuli to your Home Screen as an app icon, a sign-in email opens in Safari — a separate space from the icon — so the icon may not end up signed in, and Apple limits these emails to about two an hour. Setting up Face ID avoids all of that: it signs you in right inside the icon, with no email.

Android Android doesn't have that split, so the email link works smoothly — and you can still set up fingerprint / screen-unlock sign-in for speed.

2 Your home: "My trips"

After signing in you land on My trips — an accordion list of your books. If you don't have any yet, it opens straight to the builder so you can start your first one.

Click a trip to open it. Inside each one you'll find:

The ☰ menu in the top corner holds the Guide, Make a book (section 7), Set up Face ID, and Sign out.

3 Creating your book

  1. From My trips, start a new trip and give it a name (if you have no trips yet, it opens straight to the builder).
  2. + Add a day, then add your photos (see section 4 for how to get the best result) and write a caption under each one.
  3. Publish & share when the day is ready, or Save draft to keep working — a draft stays private ("Draft — not shared yet") until you publish it.

A couple of things worth knowing:

4 Adding photos — for the best result

Upload the originals straight from your phone (or import the originals via USB). Copies that came through Messages, WhatsApp, Google Photos, email, or an iCloud-web download usually arrive compressed and often with their date and location stripped — so they can show the wrong day and no place. The originals in your camera roll keep everything, and they print better later.

iPhone If a photo lives only in iCloud ("Optimize iPhone Storage"), it may take a moment to fetch the full-size original when you add it — that's normal.

Android Add photos the same way — tap to pick from your library or Photos; choose the originals rather than a shared/forwarded copy.

Computer · Microsoft Edge On a PC, clicking "add photos" in Microsoft Edge may offer "upload from your phone" with a QR code, and after 10 photos it demands you install Microsoft Edge on your phone. That's a Microsoft feature, not Vieuli. Simplest: add photos straight from your phone, or on the computer use Chrome or Firefox, which just open a normal file picker.

5 Choosing a theme

Open a trip → Theme to set the book's colors and fonts. It applies while you're building a day and on the shared link. Click View anytime to see the final look.

6 Sharing & comments

Open a trip → Share with viewers. Send the link and the 4-digit PIN. The most reliable way is Copy link, then paste it into any text or email. Share opens your phone's share sheet (Messages, Mail, WhatsApp…), and View shows the finished book.

iPhone The "Scan to text" QR code is meant to be scanned by a phone to pre-fill a text message. On iPhone, scanning it can pop an "Add to Contacts" prompt instead (iOS misreads a message with no recipient filled in). If that happens, ignore it and just use Copy link — paste the link + PIN into a message or email. Copy-and-paste works the same on every device.

When a viewer opens the link they:

They cannot edit the book, add photos, or see anything you haven't shared. One link + one PIN covers the whole trip — as you add days, they simply appear.

Managing comments on your book: open a trip → Comments. Each comment has:

7 Making a printable book

Beyond the online book, you can lay out a printable photo book and save it as a PDF to order from a print service (Blurb's "PDF to Book" works well — it has been tested end to end, from export to accepted upload). Open the ☰ menu → "Make a book", pick a trip, then arrange photos and captions on each page, choose a size and fonts, and Export PDF. The higher-quality copies of your photos, kept behind the scenes, are used for print — one more reason to upload originals (section 4).

A trip has one book, and it belongs to whoever owns the trip. If a trip was shared with you as a co-author, you'll see it greyed out in the "Make a book" list: that book is the owner's, and editing it would rearrange their pages. To make your own version, use Copy this trip (section 8) — the copy is yours, and it gets its own book.

Adding more photos later

When you add photos to the trip after starting a book, a banner offers two choices. They are very different:

Exporting and printing

Your book saves itself as you work, and it's kept quite separate from the online version — rearranging pages here never changes what your viewers see. Captions you type into the book stay in the book, too: they don't rewrite the photo's caption in the trip.

8 "Copy this trip" — tailoring for one audience

Copy this trip makes a brand-new, independent trip that starts as a copy of the original (same days and photo selections — references only, it doesn't duplicate the photo files). Use it when you want a version tailored to one audience: copy it, then trim the copy without changing the original. The copy is yours, with its own link and PIN.

9 Roles — Admins, Co-authors, Guests & Viewers

Three kinds of people use Vieuli. Which one you are can depend on the trip — an Admin can also be a co-author or a viewer on someone else's book.

Admin — creates trips and invites people in; usually whoever set up the account. An Admin can create trip books, invite co-authors, manage comments, and delete a trip they own. The printable book of any trip they own is theirs alone. The one thing only an Admin can do is invite a new co-author (editor) — so if this ever became a paid product, the account holder would be the Admin.

Co-author — invited by an Admin to help build a particular trip (Vicki and Kim are co-authors on UK 2026). A co-author can:

A co-author can't invite other editors — that stays with Admins — and can't make the printable book for someone else's trip. Each trip has one book and it belongs to the trip's owner, so that nobody's page arrangement can be rebuilt from under them. Copy the trip and the copy's book is yours (sections 7 and 8).

Guest — invited by an Admin to use Vieuli for their own trips, without joining anyone else's. A guest builds their own trip books and shares view-only links exactly like an Admin does, including the printable book for their own trips. The difference is that a guest isn't attached to anybody else's trip: they can't see or edit the trips of the person who invited them, that person can't open theirs, and a guest can't invite anyone. If an Admin later removes a guest, the books they've already made stay theirs and their share links keep working — they just can't start new ones.

Viewer — anyone you share a link + PIN with. No sign-in, nothing to install. A viewer opens the link, enters the 4-digit PIN, browses the finished book day by day, and can leave a short comment under any photo (and delete their own, from the same browser). A viewer can't edit anything, add photos, or see what you haven't shared.
